About the Role

We are seeking a caring and dedicated Animal Care Assistant to provide daily care and support for animals in veterinary clinics, animal shelters, kennels, farms, or other animal care facilities. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, works well in a team, and is committed to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for all animals.

What You'll Do

Feed, groom, and care for animals according to their individual needs
Clean and maintain kennels, cages, enclosures, and work areas
Monitor animal health and behaviour, reporting concerns to veterinary staff or supervisors
Assist with handling and restraining animals during examinations and treatments
Support veterinary staff with routine procedures and animal care tasks
Administer basic care under supervision, where appropriate
Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, treatments, and daily care
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and animal welfare standards

Requirements

Matric certificate (minimum requirement)
Qualification in Animal Care, Veterinary Assistance, or a related field (advantageous)
Previous experience working with animals is preferred
Genuine passion for animal welfare and wellbeing
Good physical fitness and ability to safely handle animals of different sizes
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required
