Accounts Payable Supervisor
Introduction
An established organisation is seeking a capable Accounts Payable Supervisor to oversee the accounts payable function and ensure accurate and timely supplier payments. The role requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of accounts payable processes. The successful candidate will manage a team responsible for invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment runs. This role is critical in maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring compliance with financial controls. The position requires attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage high volumes of financial transactions. It offers the opportunity to contribute to improving financial processes within the finance department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise the accounts payable team and ensure operational efficiency.
- Review supplier invoices and verify correct coding and approvals.
- Manage supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Oversee weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.
- Investigate and resolve supplier queries.
- Monitor aging reports and outstanding liabilities.
- Implement improvements to accounts payable processes.
- Assist with audit queries relating to payables.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in accounts payable.
- At least 1–2 years experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable procedures and controls.
- Experience using accounting software such as SAP, Sage, or Oracle.
- Advanced Excel skills for reconciliations and reporting.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage high transaction volumes with accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a busy finance environment.
