Financial Management & Reporting
Salary: R negotiable dependent on experience
Our client, a well-established and growing company based in Brackenfell, is seeking an experienced SAIPA Accountant to take ownership of key accounting functions while providing leadership and support to a small finance team.
This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who is detail-oriented, technically strong, and capable of ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance while contributing to the continued success of the business.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CIMA/CA(SA)/SAIPA qualification required)
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with at least 2 years in a management capacity
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or FMCG sectors highly desirable
- Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling proficiency
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage Evolution, Pastel Partner, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of IFRS and South African tax/VAT regulations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
DUTIES
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Analyse financial performance and provide variance analysis against budget and forecast
- Prepare board-level financial reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Monitor daily cash balances and ensure optimal working capital management
- Forecast cash flow requirements and plan for funding needs
- Oversee accounts receivable collections and accounts payable disbursements in collaboration with AR/AP Clerk
- Lead the annual budgeting process and mid-year reforecasts
- Collaborate with department heads to align forecasts with operational needs
- Provide scenario planning and cost analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, statutory, and regulatory requirements
- Manage audit processes, liaising with external auditors and preparing required documentation
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls, policies, and procedures
- Monitor and ensure data accuracy and integrity within accounting systems
- Directly manage the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Clerk
- Mentor junior finance staff, ensuring skills development and performance monitoring
- Create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the finance department
- Drive the optimisation of accounting software and digital tools to improve efficiency
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements in reporting and transaction processing
