Our client based in Benoni is looking for an AC Winder / Armature Winder / Electric Motor Winder to rewind, repair, maintain, test, and refurbish AC electric motors, alternators, generators, and related rotating electrical equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric.
Trade qualification in Electrical Winding, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent artisan trade preferred.
3–5 years’ experience in AC motor rewinding and repairs.
Experience with industrial motors, pumps, generators, and alternators preferred.
Knowledge of AC motor winding techniques.
Ability to read winding data sheets and electrical diagrams.
Familiarity with insulation systems and testing procedures.
Skilled in fault finding and motor diagnostics.
Understanding of workshop safety and electrical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strip, inspect, and diagnose faults on AC motors and rotating equipment.
Remove damaged windings and prepare stators/rotors for rewinding.
Wind coils according to specifications and diagrams.
Install insulation materials and perform varnishing/baking processes.
Reassemble motors and conduct electrical and mechanical testing.
Perform surge testing, insulation resistance testing, and continuity checks.
Interpret winding diagrams and technical drawings.
Replace bearings, seals, and related motor components.
Maintain workshop tools, winding machines, and testing equipment.
Complete job cards, repair reports, and maintenance records.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and workshop procedures.
